Paisley is in Lake County, in the Orlando metro area in central Florida.

The community was named after our sister town (city) a town in Scotland.

I consider myself extremely fortunate to have been able to visit the country of Scotland while serving in the service back in the 60’s and I will never forget the people or the land.

I do not know why and I do not care why however, a ½ dozen Ibis

paid us a visit last night and they were still up in our long

needle pine trees over our back patio this morning.

I love his place!

The White Ibis is a wading bird of the Deep South, the striking White Ibis is frequently seen on lawns looking for large insects as well as probing for prey along the shoreline.

The Glossy Ibis nests colonially in trees, often with herons. It is also gregarious when feeding in marshy wetlands; it predates on fish, frogs and other water creatures, as well as occasionally on insects

This little guy lives in our Spring Lily’s and our shed

The only thing better than going out the back door first thing in the morning with a hot cup of coffee to smell the Spring Lily’s and saying

“Good Morning”

to the green frogs inside of the flowers would be getting permission from our Lizards for the right to go outside in the first place!

Our Lizards think that they are the Jack Russell terriers of the Lizard world! J

Spring Lily’s grow all around our home and the frogs, Lizards and toads think that the flowers are their own special playground, Oh wait a minute they are!

Even though we put a 6’ fence around the house to help protect Sabrina from the traffic on the road we got an unexpected visit from a family of Sand hill cranes, Donna’s favored bird.

Poor Sabrina, all she could do was stand at the window with her whole body shaking while watching their every move.

Because we live in the Ocala forest in Lake County We have many Eagles flying around the house.

Scissor Tailed Flycatchers has been flying around our house for some time now one can see why so many people stop what they are doing and just stare in wonder; we now have a six pack of them flying all around.

I wouldn't want anyone to get lost

Mom & Dad Sand hill Cranes on the way past Jacks window (Jack is our Cocktail) he called out to them until they turned around the corner past the cars into the back yard!

Until they leave for the trip back up north or for most of the winter months we have 40 to 50 yellow finches on our feeders.

Sabrina is now at the back door doing her shaking thing again every time they move, They walked all around the house back to the bird sanitary and off to tease another family, Oh well such is life!

We also have many types of Woodpeckers

We even have our own post office!

Have you ever heard Sand Hill Cranes flying from nest to food and food back to nest?

They fly so close one would think that they scrape their feet on our roof!

The picture just above is of the two sand hill cranes and the bird sanctuary that I built in the middle of our front yard it was a great idea however, a family of coopers hawks moved in across the street and were using it for their very own dinner table and a family of squirrels moved in the tree to the side of our yard and try as we may Sabrina and I could not keep them from eating all of the bird seeds, so the picture below is the new bird/lizard sanctuary.

This is the new Bird and Lizard sanctuary I call it this because our lizards spend more time there then the birds do.

On the left is a 12’ fence with morning glories now growing up it to slow down our hawk family.

John rules the front yard and if you do not believe me just ask him, if you dare!

We are on our 3^rd generation of Cardinals and I believe grandmother is carrying once again, I love this place!

I put a feeder at the dining room window, the living room window and the back computer room.

What a great view!

My wrens will not go into the birdhouses that I built for them they would rather battle with me for my shed or the laundry room, I guess for now they have settled for under our porch!

Big mouth little bird gotta love them.

We are also on our 3^rd generation of the American Doves we sometimes have 15 to 20 feeding each day and 6 to 12 that even think that the bird sanitary is their very own nest for night sleeping?

They have slowed down some because I had to move the feeding grounds to help save their lives, they will adapt!

Not too bright a bird, Donna & Sabrina’s job is to keep the Coopers hawk family from eating them L

There are so many butterflies in central Florida that I think I will save them for my Ocala page next door to this one!

We are trying to help grow our senior center

however we need new blood and things to do?

Another day this will take some time!

We have a family of Cooper's Hawks that live in the back 40 however, after I installed our birdfeeders they also built nest in the front across the street and now trying to keep them away from our song birds is a full day’s work!

Harriett came to visit with us many years ago and I guess she likes it here because she made a home for herself up by the gate and comes over to watch me work around the yard while she it out eating. We make sure that when she is out we give her space.

Harry came calling on Harriett a few months ago and we were so happy after all grandchildren around the house is a good thing right?

It is now almost the end of mating season 06/03/08 and I have been watching the lover birds for months, I don’t know but it is looking like no grandchildren from these two!

I am thinking that poor Harriett is still far too young.

This is Sally, she looks like she was hit by a car or something, not bad just enough to mark the shell, Sally came for a visit two days ago, in the back yard Sally met Harry, Harry does not want anything to do with Sally so poor Sally went to the front yard at Harriett’s home, BIG MISTAKE, poor Sally has packed her bags and left town today.

This girl seems to get a little cranky if you talk to her before the sun comes up, Oh well maybe I should have given her some of my coffee, NOT!
